Sorry, got my numbers mixed up. There's actually around 60-70 copies at the most, with a little over 25 of the gold carts. However, the number I gave out earlier is probably a more accurate number of how many are left, as most copies are considered lost.

Sorry bud, but your incorrect. Rarest game NES game ever is Nintendo World Championships. Reason why you don't see them on eBay or up for auction, they're EXTREMELY rare. There are less than 30 copies, around 25 or so grey carts and 4-5 gold carts. The only way to obtain a copy was to be a finalist at the Nintendo World Championship back around 1988-89. The finalists were given grey carts, but the gold carts are another story. The gold carts were given out through a special giveaway in Nintendo Power. Only around 4-5 carts were given out. This carts were never for sale. There is a retail copy that comes in a black cart, but these are actually clones and are not legit copies. The only people I've seen to own copies of the game is James Rolf (Angry Video Game Nerd) and Pat the NES Punk. Both own a grey cart and I believe James owns the legendary gold cart as well. So there you have it.
